What do a German whisk, custom-made lipstick, a travel agency and a funeral home all have in common?
They all have stalls at Agfest 2017.
Outside of the more conventional agricultural stalls, Agfest plays host to some unexpected exhibitors.
Exhibitor Kerrie Davis is selling a German-designed whisk and said her product is well-suited to rural cooks.
“It is a very, very useful product for country and agricultural people, so we find we do very well at the field days with it.”
In the craft sheds, Chantelle May comes from Brisbane to sell Sistaco’s range of colour-changing nail polish and custom-made lipstick.
“We usually do expos at conventions centres, so this is a bit more rustic, but the people are here, so that’s what’s good about it,” she said.
Devonport travel agent Geoff Richardson said the decision to come to Agfest was a logical one.
“I was a farmer for twenty years before I bought this agency, and Agfest is a logical extension,” he said. “We’re trying to promote farm tours as well, and we’ve had a really good response.”
Lethborg Family Funerals director Philip Lethborg said even though his stall was unorthodox, people were interested in the booklets that allow people to write their last wishes and give to family.
“Although people are a bit shy to discuss funerals, it was just as relevant to the Agfest crowd as anyone else,” he said. “I’d definitely come again.”
